Ljubljana has a happening center on the riverside. Filled with restaurants and cafes and little specialty shops, its an interesting place to explore. It makes a lot of sense to stay close to this area for convenience to move around.
Arrival and Check-in at City Hotel Ljubljana
The location of the City Hotel was not where I expected it to be. It is by the main road which we always used but never noticed as it blends in with the buildings around. Conveniently at the Hotel entrance , there is a place to stop to unload our bags before looking for a parking space. The Hotel does offer parking at a fee but since we stayed on Saturday till Sunday – the street parking is free. So we parked at the street instead.
We unloaded our bags , found parking and came back to do the check-in. The reception was friendly and accomodating and before long we headed up to the room.
City Hotel Ljubljana Room
I booked the room with a balcony and was curious to see how it would look. The Hotel went through some renovations and it seems to be spruced up. The room itself is spacious with a comfortable bed. They even offer a pillow menu which was a nice touch! Only strange thing was there were no side tables which is no big deal but would have been convenient.
The bathroom and toilet is in one large room and it came with a bath tub. The toiletries were sufficiently provided. Besides that there is a room safe and mini bar. Coffee and tea making facilities are provided as well as complimentary drinking water. The tap water is drinkable as well. In other words the room was nicely equipped.
The most outstanding feature of the room is the balcony view towards the old city with Ljubljana Castle on the hill.
Ljubljana Castle view is definitely a reason to stay here and toast to a good decision…
City Hotel Ljubljana Facilities and Services
We stayed only for one night and did not use any of the facilities like wellness or gym. This being a city Hotel offers business facilities as well. The front desk can help with organizing your day trips and tours. We only enjoyed the big spread of buffet breakfast included in our stay. I have to say that it was very good. The food was fresh and they had nice grilled vegetables and others – Good kitchen! I would like to try their restaurant once.
Verdict on City Hotel Ljubjana
The City Hotel Ljubljana is very close to being perfect for a stay in Ljubljana. If you follow my blog, you know that I rate location very highly on the accomodation that I stay in. This Hotel is very convenient within easy reach of the old center around 350m walk away. As it is close but still not within the pedestrian only center, it is convenient to find parking or park at the garage of the Hotel. That is a huge plus point.
The room is well-equipped and comfortable and if you get the balcony room with view – you will not be disappointed. Only minor thing is the lack of side tables.
In a city full of great food choices, they have a wonderful buffet breakfast that I would go for again. So that is saying a lot.
