The European Bike week is a big deal annually in Faaker See Austria. 2-way roads become one-way to accommodate the large number of biker visitors here. In 2018, the event attracted 200,000 people from all over to gather and meet. No wonder – as this region is blessed with mountain roads, perfect for bikers and beautiful lakes to relax in after long bike rides.
European Bike Week Events
The Harley-Davidson Village puts up tents for its events and its an enjoyable way to spend the evening , meeting up with fellow bikers. Harley dealers showcase the latest bikes and one can even do test drives.
The shops around sells official Harley merchandise as well as European Bike week T-shirts are popular as well. Plenty of apparels for bikers everywhere. Of course there are other bikes too and I learned about the Boss Hoss , one of the most powerful motorcycles around. It sure does look like a mean machine!
The villages are not short on entertainment with a big lineup of bands providing live music. The tents are popular needless to say and the bands are good. Drinks are served there and people get into good mood fast immersing into the music. We caught the performance from Cindy and the Rock History one evening. I would go see them again.
What would a village be without food and drinks ? A section for food court attracted vendors to setup shop offering international cuisine. The typical biker bar food like burgers and fries , more regional Austrian dishes as well as Asian noodles and rice were part of the selection.
Here is a short video on our walk through the Harley village. Besides there is also the Arneitz village offering similar entertainment further down the road. Smaller events are organized around the Faaker See.
Grand Finale : Biker Parade
The biker parade is a highlight especially for the spectators waiting to check out the super bikes in the parade. Most are Harleys and some bikers dress up to please the crowd further. This year we decided to join in the parade. So this short video is from our ride through Villach town with the other bikers. It started at 12 and ended at 3pm.
