Arrival and Check-In to Hotel Strass
We turned into the street that is the Main Street in Mayrhofen. I was looking out for the car park and found it right next to the Sporthotel Strass. We only needed to press an intercom button to the reception and the parking bar opened.
Check-in was a breeze, the reception was friendly and provided us with a booklet for getting to know the facilities we could use. Very soon we could go up to the room.
Hotel Strass Room
The room was bright and airy which felt warm and welcoming. It was modern but there was no mini-bar or coffee or tea making facilities. A safe for storing personal belongings could be found in the closet.
Bathroom was one large room and had a shower area and no bath. Felt elegant and luxurious due to the bright tiles.
The cherry on top was the large balcony with the sweeping views to the valley. It was positioned in a way which was away from the main street which made it pleasantly quiet and street noises seem far away.
Culinary Delights in Sporthotel Strass
Our stay in Sporthotel Strass was inclusive of Half board meaning breakfast and dinner included. We had always the same table which was really comfortable and I think its good during covid times.
Breakast was a buffet spread with cold cuts, cereal, fruits and warm cooked eggs, sausages and bacon. All sorts of bread included. We were served coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice at the table.
Dinner was a more formal affair where we were served a 4-course dinner at the table. The evening before we pre-selected our options. I made a picture collage below of what we had for dinner both nights. The food I have to say was very good – cooked in Tyrolean style.
Sporthotel Strass Wellness
Our Hotel stay included the usage of the wellness facilities offered which was part of the reason we chose it. To be able to enjoy the lush nature and mountains during the day and then to come back to the Hotel and enjoy the sauna, pool , solarium just simply heals the soul.
The Hotel has a big wellness area – a big part is an adults-only section , clothing not allowed. There are different choices of sauna to select from as well as steam bath and heated pool to cool off. They also offer massages and Turkish Baths for extra of course.
Sporthotel Strass Facilities
As in the name, the Hotel offers sport facilities as well, there is a tennis court, table tennis, a sports bar. The Hotel offers hiking tours with a mountain guide as well as mountain bike tours in its weekly program. If you don’t have a bike, rental of e-bikes are also available there.
The Verdict on the Sporthotel Strass
The Hotel is rated as a 4-Star and prices were not budget prices. When you take into account that the Hotel is very self-contained and one can spend time just in the Hotel itself enjoying all activities without leaving it, the prices were then justified.
I would highly recommend it, as it is then good for the whole family even if there are diversified interest. Everyone will find something enjoyable to do. Of course most people would be outside taking nature walks , hiking in the mountain, mountain biking and for that this area is wondrous and full of options.
Right outside the Hotel is the main street , full of life and shops and pedestrians. Next door to the Hotel is the cable car station bringing people up the mountains. Very convenient without having to take the car out.
The wellness center is well-equipped and maintained. When we were there everything was available for use and gave us the rest and relaxation we needed for the weekend. We combined it with mountain activities and it was perfect.
