Arrival and Check-In to Arion Athens
We arrived from Athens International airport and took the bus which brought us to Syntagma Square. Our intention was to then take a taxi to the Arion Athens Hotel but this was not to be – we had a disagreement about the price with the taxi driver and decided to walk it. It was 1.1km away and normally should take 15 – 20 minutes. We stopped by our favourite drink stall and then made our way to the Hotel. The road to the Hotel was not what I would describe to be the best. The road is quiet and it felt a little bit shady as if some criminals would hang out there. However it just looks it , we walked it several times and did not see any unsavoury people there.
Once the doors open the reception is somewhat at the inner side and we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who checked us in efficiently and we could already take the elevator up to the room.
Arion Athens Room
Reaching the 6th floor, I was amazed at how big and bright the building was. We got our first look at the spacious room. The room was equipped with a double bed and a sofa that could be another bed and still did not feel cramped. The furniture seem to look older could be because of all the wood but everything was very clean.
The attached bathroom was also a big space equipped with a bathtub. There was the small bottles of shampoo and shower gel and a shower cap. Hair dryer is available too.
Other equipment in the room included a safe , an empty mini fridge and television. The room had big full windows allowing in nice natural light to the room. Also a great feature is of course the big balcony that has a view of the Acropolis.
Arion Athens Hotel Facilities and Service
We only stayed here for a night and had breakfast included at the breakfast room above the reception. Spread across 3 tables they have quite a variety . My favourite was the fresh salad I could put together by myself.
At the roof , there is an accessible terrace with tables and chairs with views of the Acropolis. There was not the need to go to any of the rooftop bars in the city for these views.
The Verdict on Arion Athens Hotel
I was pleasantly surprised as the outside was deceivingly simple and once in the Hotel there was a lot of space. There were even 2 elevators in the lobby area. The views from the rooftop and from the room was incredible. Do choose a room with the Acropolis views – you wont be disappointed.
In the end I appreciated that it is situated on a quiet street and a mere few steps away are the Psiri taverns, restaurants and bars. The vicinity to the Central Market provides access to good and cheap places to eat. Monastiraki square and metro is only a 5-minute walk away so for me its always location, location, location and I was happy with this choice.
I do love the big room you got at the Arion Athens Hotel. We love to spread out when we return from a busy day wandering. And a deep bathtub is perfect for me. The rooftop terrace and view of the Acropolis would be the ideal spot for us to relax.
Oh My God, the view of the Acropolis from your Arion Hotel is simply superb. I would love to stay at this hotel whenever I come to visit Athens. The room is so spacious, and I can see that the bathroom looks good too with the bathtub. I loved their breakfast spread; that is quite a huge variety. I hope you enjoyed your stay.
Seems like a very comfortable hotel with a good cosy room. I love the view from the rooftop -unobstructed view of the Acropolis. The breakfast spread is quite big too… nothing like a hearty one to start your day of exploring. You definitely struck a good deal.
The location of Arion Athens looks really good and the room looks nice and bright and spacious, especially the bathroom. Breakfast options look varied and decent quality. Best of all is that view of the Acropolis though! WOW!
I like how tidy and simplistic this hotel looks! While it might not be the most opulent, it does offer the convenience you require. The patio with a view of the city lights at night is my favorite aspect of this amenity. The meals on their breakfast buffet also appear to be healthy.
It looks like you had a great stay at Arion hotel. The rooftop terrace is such a plus, indeed you didn’t need to spend money at oher rooftop restaurants or terraces to enjoy the view of Acropolis. The room looks spacious indeed, plenty of space to move around. I like how modern the bathroom looks like as well.
Glad to know that you had a good experience with the Arion Athens. As long as it’s clean and not too cramped, then it’s good enough for me. It’s nice to know that it’s accessible and close to other establishments.
Thank you for sharing your honest review. The view from the rooftop is beautiful.
Very helpful review of the Arion Athens Hotel! I think our hotel was nearby this area because we had nearly the same view of the Acropolis! I’m glad you never saw any unsavory people lurking around. I would love the large room with lots of space!
