There are an incredibly large amount of options of Hotels when it comes to Dubai. One more luxurious than the other. In the end , I elected to stay in the Oberoi, Dubai. Mainly because they were very punctual in responding to my emails regarding my questions, which raised my opinion on their level of customer service. As of July 2022, Oberoi Dubai is now Anantara Downtown Dubai

Arrival and Check-In to the Anantara Downtown Dubai
We had a 2-night stopover in Dubai in mid-April this year. Our arrival to Dubai was early in the morning . The airport formalities were pretty smooth and we got on the Subway RedLine at the Business Bay Stop. Right outside we took a taxi direct to the Hotel.
As our arrival was very early I had planned to place our luggage in storage while exploring nearby. However Rainer was having a bad migraine attack and I asked for the possibility of an early check-in. The Hotel and Reception went above and beyond to clear up the room and made it available for us. Talk about great customer service (yet again!)
We waited at the very comfortable and spacious lobby – it was fasting time in Dubai but the Hotel provided us with bottled water. We were careful not to offend by openly drinking though. Before long, we could go up to the room.
Anantara Downtown Dubai Room
I wrote to the Oberoi Dubai to request for a room with views as per normal. As I mentioned earlier, the Hotel was very punctual with their responses.
I have seen photos of the room but seeing it live is still a real treat. I was very much amazed by the sheer size of the room. That and the floor to ceiling windows that look out to the city views was simply amazing.
The bed is worthy of 5-star status of the Hotel. The temperature outside is hot and being in the room is a refuge in luxury. The climate control in room was perfect. The black-out is electronically controlled and effective in blocking the world out.
The desk is amazing – wide and if you are doing some work , it feels completely executive. Just look at that view behind! The seating area is very spacious as well , a very nice sofa to chill on.
The room is of course well-equipped with all necessary facilities like mini-bar, tea and coffee making facilities, a walk-in wardrobe with an iron board and of course a safe. We were also welcomed with a fruit basket. Additionally they provided a Covid-19 prevention pack containing masks as well as a carry-on disinfection spray.
I just love the bathroom at Hotel Oberoi . A very spacious space for grooming and relaxing. The free standing bath tub overlooks out into the city views.
The use of glass to compartmentalize the shower area and the toilets is truly brilliant. Two sinks are better than one too.
Anantara Downtown Dubai Facilities
Our very comfortable stay included buffet breakfast that is one of the best ever! There are ample seating places indoor and outdoor as well. The buffet had a lot of options – we could also order some freshly cooked dishes and delicious karak tea! It’s a 10 rating from me.. Apart from the food – the service from the staff were above and beyond. The service was fast and they were friendly even though the place was full.
The Verdict on The Oberoi / Anantara Downtown Dubai
Any Hotel could get comfortable beds and fit the rooms with luxury items and useful facilities and label themselves 5-star. The Oberoi Dubai distinguished themselves with the level of service from the staff. From the people who addressed my email, to the reception who arranged a room earlier and the restaurant staff at breakfast made us feel at home and comfortable during our stay. Not very often do I get to say that I stayed in a 5.star service Hotel.
