The Business Class and higher class travels already starts at the Airport Lounge , today is a review of the Airport Lounge World in Munich International Terminal 1.
We travelled via Qatar Airways and used this lounge pre-flight. As soon as you get through the security section, turn right to an elevator which brings to the Airport Lounge World , which has two-storeys.
Entry was uncomplicated – only required showing of the Boarding passes. Immediately upon entering is luggage locker area. I find this to be very useful especially if you are a solo traveller.
Dining
The dining area is spacious and tables were well spread out. This gives a sense of privacy while one dines. At the first glance the lounge looked very clean and modern. There was a good choice at the buffet, which did not look very big but had some delicious food and dessert.
Drink choices had a good selection of both alcoholic and non in the refrigerator.
Waiting Area
The Waiting area is designed in such a way that there is a choice of more privacy or sitting out in the open. There are charging stations for electrical devices all over the Lounge. All throughout our 3-hour stay , the lounge was not full. People came and went. The seats were very comfortable and there is a television to keep updated to the news. Recliners are available as well.
Facilities
With regards to facilities , the Lounge has showers , free wi-fi, TV, recliners, separated smoking room as well as a range of magazines to keep the traveller occupied.
The Verdict
A very comfortable lounge which is both spacious and airy. Natural light streams in from the bay windows.
What we liked:
The selection of seats ranging from recliners at a quiet, darkened area or at the windows, whatever your mood may be.
The delicious food selection and drinks – arranged to be within easy reach to the seating areas.
The availability of luggage lockers.
Although there is no paging of the flights , there is a big screen near to the reception , one could keep track of the flight information such as status and gates.
All in all, a very good lounge for starting any journey.
