I attribute a big part of my travel experience to my accomodation. The more luxurious the better of course. However there are other important things such as ease of getting around, safety, service-oriented staff. I found all this and more in Saint John Hotel, Mykonos. So let’s get down to it.
Arrival and Check-In
Saint John provided us with a free shuttle to the hotel and the driver was waiting for us at the arrival Hall. Mykonos Airport is a small one, so it was easy to spot the card with our names. We had to wait a little for other guests on other flights but soon we were on the shuttle van driving to the Hotel. It was a 4 km drive – when signs of the Hotel greeted us.
The porter took care of our luggage while checked-in. We were made to feel welcome from the first step into the Hotel. We were served a drink and sat at the lounging area while waiting for our turn to check-in. The reception was friendly and easy-going. We later found all the staff to be the same as well. It could have something to do with the low season and not many guests at the time. A great start nonetheless!
Hotel Rooms
After an easy check-in , we were showed to our living quarters for the next few days. The rooms were spacious. Bed was not too big , there is additionally a sitting area which leads to the balcony. This is the cherry on top – as the balcony was equipped with a small table and chairs with a view to kill for. I could forgive anything for this view alone.
The bathroom window opened out to the walkway- which was pretty loud when people passed by. The bathtub was dated but clean. The 5-star included branded toiletries with spa amenities.
Culinary Delights
The hotel package included daily breakfast – and what a buffet spread it was. The food served in Mediterranean style tasted really good. There were options to have specially ordered coffee which we took. The cappucino and latte macchiato were superb, as were the views from the breakfast table.
The Hotel has 3 restaurants and a pool bar – we did not try them besides the breakfast , as we are wandering down at the Old Town in the evenings. Maybe next time.
We got to chatting with some of the friendly people working there and found out that the Hotel closes for the Winter Season after the 1st week of October and that we were the last guests there. This explains the uncrowded situation which suits us really fine
Hotel Facilities & Services
Saint John’s Hotel has no lack of things to do. The 5-star rating is well earned for the number of services provided. This includes bellhop services, concierge provided us with information on what to visit around the island. Laundry, valet, room services are also available.
The Hotel provided a really useful shuttle service to the old Mykonos town which is 4km away. In the case the timing does not fit, there is also the possibility of using the public bus just a few meters walk from the reception.
Facility-wise is also up there with the 5-star rating – fitness centre , tennis court , wedding chapel, spa & wellness and a game room. There is also an infinity pool and a private beach. Gourmet restaurants for dining options
Infinity Pool
We ended up spending the most time by the very beautiful pool side. That is why this gets a section all on its own. It really is a highlight of this Hotel. There is a kid pool , big adult pool as well as a jacuzzi. Also available are sunbeds, cabanas, loungers at the pool side. I liked very much spending time reading my favourite book there. There is even a bridge across the pool. All this overlooking the Aegean sea. How many shades of blue are there ? I think Greece is the perfect place to find that out!
Greece is famed for its sunset and how beautiful it is to catch one from the poolside of Saint John. The gorgeous orange is reflected by the pool and the white furnishings only enhances the beauty.
Hotel Private Beach
A big plus of the Hotel for me is its Private Beach – though it turned colder when we visited, I can imagine that it would be full of guests during the summer months. Since all of Mykonos and its beach would be filled with holiday makers, its really nice to have a piece of paradise in this part of the Agios Ioannis bay.
The Verdict
Five-star ratings can mean many things from luxurious rooms to nice views and impeccable service. The Pool and Beach were what made this holiday great for me. That and the convenient shuttle service to explore Mykonos town at leisure. Saint John Hotel gets a 5-star in my book as the perfect Greek Island Holiday. What a vinbrant yet peaceful place this looks like. Love the pictures and your breezy narration
Mykonos and the hotel is so easy to write about and so photogenic !
Saint John Hotel looks amazing and I specially love the view from your balcony! So cool that they provided a shuttle to the airport to pick you up and also one to old Mykonos town, that is very convenient. The infinity pool is my favourite though, I can imgine spending hours there with a cocktail and catching the perfect sunset. Love your pictures!
Yes , the pool was the highlight and where I was most of the time too – It was in fact hard to pull me away to visit the city this time!
Hotel services look fabulous. Taking a leisure trip in the lap of luxury while in Mykonos. Real good stay decision
This looks beautiful. That’s how you want to spend the summer. I especially like the pool in the evening. – Have you been swimming a lot?
Yes in the pool ! The sea was too cold for me 🙂
What a beautiful luxury hotel in Mykonos! It’s been a few years since I was back in Greece, and after reading this, I’m ready to go back. Your room looks wonderful, and that view from the balcony is something else!
Wow looks like this hotel really is the place to stay. A free shuttle is always great to not have to worry about transport. And you had me at free breakfast with the added bonus of good coffee – sign me up. And if that is not enough that infinity pool has me drooling. Perfect place to watch the sunsets.
This looks like a fantastic hotel! I’d love to go back to Mykonos one day and this looks like a great place to stay. That pool looks like a great spot to enjoy the sights.
I would love to stay here. The infinity pool with views over the ocean looks beautiful and the balcony view is gorgeous too. But the private beach is absolutely stunning. I will keep Saint John Hotel in mind for when I stay in Mykonos.
Mykonos has many resorts in high standard just like this one. In the summer it could be very hot there but that is not a problem. I heard that in winter there isn’t any heating in the rooms because it is usual not so cold. However, in the recent years, the weather changes dramatically. Does it have the heating now or still none?
No they dont have heating in this hotel but it closes for the winter and restarts in spring.
Suying Gee what was your favorite activity or experince? Were the activities in the are expensive? Do you think it would be considered a family vacation or more for adults?
My favourite was lounging by the pool. I didnt try the spa as i was relaxed enough. The hotel is also child friendly so it works for families too, the beach is also family friendly
It’s always a plus when the hotel has a shuttle from the airport and to take you to the city like the Saint John. The pools look amazing, as well as the private beach. I can imagine it full with people in the summer, but still, it won’t be as full as the public one. Your Mediterranean breakfast looks delicious. I would like to try some.

Love grand hotels like this, and how much the little things make a huge difference, like the free shuttle! Mykonos is the perfect relaxation destination.
I must admit there are some absolutely stunning hotels in Mykonos but this one is a cut above the rest. I visited Mykonos a year ago and if only I knew about it would have tried to stay here. A great way to start the holidays is by picking up your guest from the airport which it did for you. The views are stunning and the pool looks so inviting. Overall the quality and chic looks absolutely spot on. If I ever go back it would be on my list to stay for sure. Thanks for sharing
It truly looks like you had a great time in Mykonos! Greece is a wonderful country and this hotel looks absolutely stunning. Thank you for sharing and your photographs are amazing!
I’ve been to Santorini, but not to Mykonos yet so it’s great to know about Saint John. The hotel is very beautiful — that infinity pool is wonderful and the private beach is amazing! I also like that they have a billiards/pool table. It’s also very convenient to have a free shuttle from the airport, when I was in Santorini we had to book our own shuttle.
Yes , the hotel provided shuttle to and from airport and also to the city and back , this adds up to saving money on transport!
Mykonos is somewhere I’ve yet to visit when in Greece. I know it’s such a popular destination, but I guess I prefer to visit the more lesser known places. This is a beautiful hotel and one I’d love to stay in. It;s so chic too! Your photos reflect the place well!
Thank you! Its so photogenic that the photos turns out soo good!
I don’t think you can stay any better than at the Saint John Hotel Mykonos. What a lovely view from the balcony, what a stunning position on the water wedge and what a tasty food! This was a great choice and I’ll make a note of it. I want to visit Greece next year too.
It really is a great location especially for me to go off season making it cheaper and with fewer people
That’s my idea of perfection. Loved those sunset views. It is definitely a must do when visiting Mykonos next. I do miss not travelling to Mykonos, our last journey was in 2013. Reading your article has brought back lovely memories of our time there, thanks. St John Hotel’s private beach has got me wanting to book accommodation now.
Greece has got many nice 5-stat hotels. They are nicely maintained and modern. However, in winter there is no heating in some hotels. This is not a problem in most years but in the recent years, the winter there was quite cold. I think this might no longer be the case now, correct?
I heard that most hotels including this one in Mykonos close over the winter – we were there on the first week of October and were the last guests before they close and restart again in April the following year.
Oh wow, what a stunning place! The location overlooking the sea is priceless and the breakfast looks really delicious. I have yet to visit Mykonos but I’m definitely taking note of this place 🙂
Those views from the pool side just made me fall in love with the place. The myriad colors – orange to blue at various times of the day is just perfect. Well done with those pics. The location of the hotel seems perfect for Mykonos. Will definitely be considering it for my visit.
Its definitely a great place to stay and so beautiful scenes everywhere.
I’m totally sold on the infinity pool and hotel’s private beach part, that is so amazing. And I couldn’t agree with you more on how perfect accommodations make the holidays even more specials. Saint John Hotel fits right on the perfect stay part! The scrumptious buffet spread is another winner for me, haha.
my tummy is the final decider on most places i go 😀
