Since Hangover 2 the movie popularized rooftop bars even more in Bangkok, many has sprung up all over the city. The most famous of them all is the one featured in the movie, which is the Sky Bar. After quite extensive research I found one near the hotel I was staying slightly more than 1 kilometer away which was possible to walk to. I proceeded to make reservations at the Yao Rooftop Bar.

First off you need to reserve a table – I have shared the link above. The Bar is located on the 32nd/33rd floor of the Bangkok Marriot Hotel Surawong Road. As we entered Hotel, we took the lift up to the 31st floor and arrived at the Chinese Restaurant which by the way got fantastic reviews. There is another quirky elevator that brought us up to the rooftop which had a split level. The decor is modern Chinese tastefully executed. The first thing I noted was the seating was arranged in a way that made it very cozy with the use of lanterns and plants to provide privacy.
We had seats up on the upper level which was less lit and had an amazing ambience. The night breeze made it all the more comfortable. We were given a menu but we were too late to order from the Restaurant. So we ordered from the drink menu which had pretty fancy names. Prices were not cheap of course given that we are paying for the ambience and the views.
Here’s to our last evening in Bangkok – at the top and celebrating my sister’s early birthday.
Amazing 360 degree views all around. What a fantastic place to view the Bangkok Skyline.
Summary
It was the right decision to have chosen Yao Rooftop Bar to visit. It’s a good place to chill and to enjoy the views. The only thing I would have liked more was to try the food here at sunset. We stayed just about 1km away and could easily walk back to the Hotel. Check my review out below.
