Who needs to Apply for the ETA ?
- Everyone visiting the UK and travelling through border control checkpoints from babies to seniors.
- Including visitors on layover who come in to the UK for a day visit.
- Exception: Residents of the UK and residents of Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey.
- Exception: Visa holders to the UK.

How long is the ETA valid ?
- The ETA will be associated with your passport and is valid for 2 years or until your passport expires.
- While the ETA is valid you can enter the UK as many times as you wish.
When should I apply for the ETA?
- According to the website it usually takes 3 working days to get a reply.
- There is no shortcut to speed up the application.
- Apply before travelling to the UK
How much does the ETA cost ?
The ETA costs 10 GBP per application. Each person has to apply individually even when travelling in a group. No refunds permitted.
